"This course is the antidote to imposter syndrome. If you are looking for something to help you step into professionalism, this is it. This is like a glow over for your art. It takes what you have to offer from an act to a fully fleshed out experience!" - Nani Pacal
ACTivate is designed specifically for circus artists performing in the live events industry, who have an act ready to book at events, but don’t have a grasp of how to coordinate all the technical elements.
Whether you’re a freelancer hired by an entertainment company/agency to perform your act, or a circus company booking full shows at events, planners often look to you to be the expert and communicate all your needs.
This course will give you the knowledge and tools to navigate tons of different event scenarios!
And you'll have access to templates and step-by-step methods to create your tech rider, stage diagram, lighting plan and cue sheet for your act.
Part of an exceptional performance includes all the pre-planning and production elements. So why take a gamble that it will all be there for you?
After 25+ years of performing and 15 years of running an award winning event entertainment company, Ileigh and her wife Brock created Circus Boss to empower the next generation of circus innovators. They specialize in helping circus artists, companies and studio owners with their finances, marketing, sales and event entertainment design & production.
Ileigh was Animate Objects' resident lighting designer, holds a BFA in Dance from New World School of the Arts and is certified in Technical Meeting & Event Production through the Event Leadership Institute.
Brock Rylander, aka DJ Brockstar, managed the audio, spun danceable beats, and ran complex audio show cues for Animate Objects Productions and will contribute to the audio lessons in ACTivate!
Together, their mission is to help you provide the highest quality production value whether your tech team is a full Production Crew, or just a DJ!
This is a self-study course, so it all depends on how much time you have!
If you dedicate 2-3 hours per week, you'll have it done in 5 weeks.
If you don't have time to watch all the lessons, then dive right into the templates.
The templates we’ve created are worth the value of the course alone! They are guaranteed to be a massive time saver, so any time invested in the course will save oodles of time on future events.
Great! You can take the best from our templates to add to yours.
And most importantly, you’ll learn how to effectively communicate your needs before and during an event to make sure all the elements in your tech rider are taken care of!
Even if you have ZERO experience with the tech side of performing, you’ll know enough fundamentals and lingo to talk to your tech team (and event planner) like an experienced professional.
This will instantly increase your value as a performer that knows how to make a performance go off without a hitch!
The reality is that performing at events can be a crap shoot when it comes to tech.
If you’re performing in the dark or you have lousy audio, even the best choreography can fall flat.
But the audience won’t really know why the experience wasn’t great, they may just think you are a mediocre performer.
And I want to help prevent that from happening to you!
"I feel so much more confident in all the stages of producing an act thanks to this course. Beforehand I didn't even know what I didn't know; now that I know how many pieces there are to putting on a professional production, I feel even more grateful I signed up! Ileigh & Brock's extensive experience and thorough organizational skills really come through in the explanations, examples, and resources they provide. Their templates and checklists, in combination with the context provided in the classes, have elevated my understanding and confidence in embarking on act production myself." -Sasha Galitzki, Cirque Aurora
